Tool Rental

The Lenawee Conservation District partners with local organizations to provide access to conservation tools and equipment that help landowners, residents, and community groups improve natural areas, manage invasive species, and support habitat restoration.

Many tools are available at little to no cost and can be reserved on a first-come, first-served basis.

Invasive Species Management Tools

Through our partnership with the Jackson-Lenawee-Washtenaw Cooperative Invasive Species Management Area (JLW CISMA), several tools are available to assist with invasive species control.

Backpack Sprayer

Ideal for targeted treatment of invasive plants and other vegetation management projects.

  • Free rental with a $50 refundable deposit

  • Available on a first-come, first-served basis

  • Pick-up and return at the Lenawee Conservation District office

JK Injection Tool

Designed for precise herbicide application on hollow-stemmed invasive species, including:

  • Japanese Knotweed

  • Phragmites

  • Giant Hogweed

  • Free rental with a $50 refundable deposit

  • Available on a first-come, first-served basis

  • Pick-up and return at the Lenawee Conservation District office

Pullerbear XL 

Heavy-duty, handheld mechanical tool designed to pull invasive weeds, brush, and nuisance trees completely out of the ground with their roots intact.

  • Free rental with a $50 refundable deposit

  • Available on a first-come, first-served basis

  • Pick-up and return at the Lenawee Conservation District office

  • Suitable for medium-sized shrubs with stems up to 3"

Large Equipment Rentals

Tree Planter

The Lenawee Conservation District offers a tree planter for landowners and organizations conducting larger planting projects.

  • Rental Rate: $50 per day

  • Refundable Deposit: $100

  • Reservation required

Truax Native Seed Drill

The Truax drill is designed for establishing native grasses, pollinator habitat, cover crops, and conservation plantings.

Available Sizes:

  • 5-foot drill

  • 8-foot drill

Washtenaw County Conservation District's Tool Lending Library

​The WCCD Tools & Equipment Lending Library is designed to make various tools and implements accessible to local producers and landowners, including Lenawee county residents. The tools & equipment in the rental program are designed for conservation purposes. We offer Hand Tools, Herbicide Application tools, and larger Equipment rentals. Requests to reserve Tools & Equipment can be made throughout the year.
