What is Conservation Tillage?

NO-TILL
With the exception of nutrient injection, the soil is left undisturbed from harvest to planting. Planting or drilling is performed in a narrow seedbed or slots created by coulters, row cleaners, disc openers, in-row chisels or roto-tillers.

STRIP-TILL
Often performed in the fall, strip-till also leaves the soil undisturbed from harvest
to planting except for nutrient injection, Planting is completed in narrow strips prepared with sweeps, disc openers, coulters or row cleaners. Crop residue is left on the surface between the strips.

MULCH-TILL
The soil is prepared prior to planting. This system uses tillage tools such as chisels, field cultivators, disc sweeps and blades.
